As many of you know, the high point national was the last race for the outdoor motocross series a couple weekends ago. I was really looking forward to racing at a new track I had never been to, and had a good week leading up to the race staying at club MX in South Carolina riding and training. I was feeling good and was ready to get the race started.
Unfortunately Mother Nature was going to throw in a wrench for all of us tho as they got a lot of rain the day before the race and the track was going to be extra muddy and slick for the start of the day. First practice didn't start out well as it was super muddy and no real lines around the track. I struggled with setup and with getting comfortable on the track. I made some changes in between practices and felt way better in the second practice. I felt like I was riding good, but unfortunately didn't get enough intensity going and missed out on qualifying by under a second. And qualified 38th.
The lcq started out decent as I was about top ten off the start, I passed a few guys and was working my way up on the first lap. As I was going to pass a rider I lost my front end in some mud and ended up going down and dislocating my shoulder and messing up my leg as well. I have had an MRI already this week and should be getting the results back soon and then should know when I'll be back riding.
Hope to see everyone at the track soon,
Austin Burns
